Nature’s remedies: baking soda

“A fit body, a calm mind, a house full of love. These things cannot be bought – they must be earned.”

Among the most read articles, but also the ones that made my readers send messages or thank me at the events, were those in which I was talking about the cure's nature offers for our body.

So I said it was time to return with three methods for cleansing and moisturising the skin, and a fourth one against sunburns, since the season is starting.

  1. Tomato and baking soda - the magic of the two combined will make you keep them close at all times. What you have to do is to get a tomato that you'll cut in two. Take one of the halves and place it with the inner part of the fruit in bicarbonate. Due to the humidity the dust will stick, start rubbing the mini sponge on your face, neck and cleavage. The tomato is a strong moisturiser, while the magic element base for the cakes helps to exfoliate the skin and cleans it deep. Remove the mask using cold water or an ice cube to close your pores. It is enough to repeat this treatment once a week - not more often - although you will be tempted once you see how bright your skin will look and adore that you will not have to put on foundation.

  2. Honey and baking soda - place the tip of a spoon filled with bicarbonate in a spoon full of honey, and after mixing it, arrange the paste on your face, neck and neckline - leave it on for 10 minutes while you take a bath or while brushing your teeth. Then gently rub your face and rinse it with cold water or an ice cube. Honey is good for hydration and heals scarring, and bicarbonate will clean the blackheads and dead cells in the area where it will be applied.

  3. Coconut oil and baking soda- a spoonful of coconut oil, a tip of a knife with bicarbonate - mixed well and stretched over the face, neck and neckline. With fingertips and circular movements from the neckline to the top, spread the mixture well over the entire area up to the forehead. Then, with a towel soaked in slightly warm water, cleanse the complexion, neck and cleavage. Your face will be hydrated, luminous and ready for the summer. Just like the above, once a week is enough.

Of the above three, last one is my favourite - because for several days the skin radiates health. Especially if you are the type who consumes many fluids daily. And when I say that you know that wine, carbonated juices or coffee do not fall under this category :P. I'm talking about flat water, unsweetened teas and soups.

Now, if you are a sun lover (and who isn’t?), you will seek to make it to a beach just to catch a little colour and a tinge of caramel that will make everyone jealous! But if you forget to use protective cream or simply the sun loves you more than normal norm, and end up with skin burns or turn into a boiled crab - the simplest and most natural way to get rid of the itch is with a super ripe tomato. Ideally it would be the one from your grandmother's garden - you know sweet and juicy, that makes the salad so heavenly tasty! You cut it in two and start using it to the sun-damaged area. Let the juice on your skin until it starts to makes your skin feel to small, then  just rinse with warm water. Repeat, if necessary after two hours.Sunburn occurs when the skin is dehydrated, and since the tomato is mostly water will hydrate the part of you skin and helps you get rid of burn sensation!
