5 reasons to journal

“Journaling helps you to remember how strong you truly are within yourself.”

– Asad Meah

If you read me so far or if you follow me on social media you know that I am big fan of bullet journaling and journaling in general. For me this is a useful tool that I invite my coaching clients to use as well.

Here are 5 reasons why I find this activity useful:

  1. Reflection - writing down your feelings and emotions is a way of dealing with them, a place to proccess them and to understand how and why you feel some things in a certain space and time.

  2. Coping - it is a feeling of freedom after you rant down on a piece of paper, so journaling can be a coping mechanism for you in a way that you can add it to your self development area and create a habit on it.

  3. Identify self talk - there is a saying that I love - talk to yourself as you would talk to your best friend or the person you love. When you write down your day and look at waht you said after some time you can see it from a different place. And you can easy identify how supportive you are with yourself. When you let the inner sabotours talk your down from doing something and where are things you need to give yourself a break from pressure.

  4. Calming - some how writing down ideas has a terapeutical way of declutter your mind and body. Giving to the paper your desires, anxiety, frustrations or anger is a nice methods to let go of the energy and let it transform into somthing different that will serve you. Notice your body late at night after a journaling session - how are your sholder, how is your stomac feels like?

  5. Relaxation - this part is left on purpose the last one cause not everyone is a fan of writting - but it can be a super useful mindfulness tool of awareness - and you can easy identify when your mind runs away from a task and focus on bringing it back

  6. Bonus: creativity and practice hand-writing - of course you can use digital tools to journal, but using paper and pen activates areas in your brain that typing doesn’t. So use a clasical jornaling method - you can be creative and add pictures, drawings or stickers. Your journal is your own and it is meant to serve you - you can use different colors for different emotions or types of talking. Do with it what will bring you peace and a mindful place of mind.
